God Blesses His People

God spoke to Moses in Numbers 15:18-21:

“Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, When you come into the land to which I bring you and when you eat of the bread of the land, you shall present a contribution to the LORD. Of the first of your dough you shall present a loaf as a contribution; like a contribution from the threshing floor, so shall you present it. Some of the first of your dough you shall give to the LORD as a contribution throughout your generations” (ESV).

God wanted His people to give to Him not because He needed something. As we read in Haggai 2:8, “The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, declares the LORD of hosts.”

We also read in Psalm 50:10-12:

“For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills. I know all the birds of the hills, and all that moves in the field is mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and its fullness are mine.”

So, why would He still require His people to give to Him?

In Malachi 3:10, we read:

“Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.”

God attracts. He would like His people to bless them as they give to Him.
